Kevin Dixon

Kevin Dixon has been recording audio and messing with electronics since the mid-90’s. After getting a degree in electrical engineering, he interned at Electrical Audio in Chicago to learn how troubleshoot and repair a variety of high-end recording equipment. This was followed by a 10 years at Astronautics Corp of America where he focused on obsolescence, redesigning old circuits, and switch-mode power supply design; and a time working at Johnson Controls prototyping lab. In addition to consulting work for those companies, he consults on designs for STG Soundlabs, creators of boutique synth modules.

Kevin designs his own analog audio gear and repairs equipment at a variety of professional audio studios. While he specializes in reel to reel tape machines for high-end studio applications, he repairs both professional audio, consumer audio equipment (i.e.: turntables, cassette tape decks and receivers) as well as the needs of working musicians like guitar amps and pedals as well as the Tascam Portastudio 4-tracks.

And if all that weren’t enough, he makes time to record music in his own home and a handful of studios. Kevin currently resides in the Riverwest neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his family.
